Tight Fungicide supply and some of the whys????

We are experiencing shortages or supply limitations on several of the cereal and grass fungicides and there appears to be several reasons for this occurring.  First, a growing global demand for cereal grain production is beyond manufactureres expectations and product production forecasts.  Secondly, a "plant health" issue and yield impact has occurred the past several years on an increasing acreage of soybeans and corn.  This phenomena seems to be from disease pressure that appears to be below normally detectable levels that has been impacting yield and the application of strobylurin fungicides often  has a positive influence on the ultimate yield, in many cases without any visual signs of disease pressure.  So with corn over $6.00 and soybeans in the $13 range, growers are pushing for maximum yields and expanding greatly the acres likely to receive an application.  Thirdly, much of the winter wheat region of Eastern Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas are experiencing early outbreaks of leaf rust and stripe rust, due to above normal rainfall, and the most often planted varieties in most areas are susceptible to these strains so product is already being positioned into those markets.  So, we like you, are having to expand our planning horizon for forecasts and product needs.  By working together we can try to better forecast some of these product needs in a very rapidly changing ag environment.....
